make me!

The make me! contest and exhibition are one of the landmarks of the Lodz Design Festival, and one of the most important international contests aimed at young designers. The ultimate goal of make me! is to promote the young generation of designers during each consecutive edition of the festival. The predominant distinguishing features of projects selected for the exhibition are: a new way of thinking about the reality which surrounds us and ignoring the current trends. The exhibition presents the projects and their designers who, despite their young age, are already conscious artists.
This year, out of 249 applications, 25 projects have been selected to be presented at the exhibition. The common factor of this year’s applications is the focus on social problems and attempting to solve them. It is encouraging that there was a lot of projects based on previous thorough studies and analyses carried out by the authors, which gives the impression of the increasing value of ideas and product development process.
This year’s edition is abound in international projects, as evidenced by the applications from Great Britain, Germany, Hungary, Czech Republic, Israel, Italy, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Norway, Austria, Portugal, Slovakia, Netherlands, Romania and even from the Brazil. make me! thus became not only the most important design contest for young designers in Poland, but also one of the most important contests of this type in the world.
We are preparing this year's festival program around the theme of 'Consequences'. Products which will be presented at the make me! exhibition, tell a story of consequent overcoming the various stages of design process, up to the final product, as well as about how important is the process of preparing the idea and how to be well prepared for its implementation, in order to obtain an object corresponding to the specific need, from which it emerged.

One of the mentioned projects will be awarded the Grand Prix of 20 000 PLN funded by the Main Sponsor of the Festival, Ceramika Paradyż. The verdict will be announced on the opening day, the 8th of October, during the Opening Ceremony of Lodz Design Festival.
