Organizator: Huta Julia, Manufaktura w Bolesławcu, Porcelana Kristoff
“Polish table” (Polski stół) is a collaborative effort of three manufacturers from Lower Silesia. This innovative project gathers Walbrzych-based Porcelana Kristoff, Manufaktura Boleslawiec and Huta Julia from Piechowice as three manufacturers which are co-designing the Polish table. The idea behind this initiative is to revive the traditional craft by combining truly unique design with the diversity and specificity of every material.
Each of the three Lower-Silesian factories has created their unique collection as an effort of their designer teams collaborating, studying production technologies and rediscovering traditional methods of hand-made ornaments:
manual china glazing, manual crystal glass grinding, stoneware stamping.
Two breakfast sets and a collection for special occasions are another step towards bringing the Lower Silesian traditional craft back to the dinner table. For the inhabitants of historical Silesia, these products were a reason to be proud, making the region recognizable and respected as the industrial area of crucial importance for the European economy. Porcelain from Walbrzych, crystal glass from Piechowice and stoneware from Boleslawiec adorned Silesian tables for centuries. After the war, their products contributed jointly to restoring the cultural and social identity of the residents of western Poland. For more than
70 years, these products have defined the “Polish table”, both literally and metaphorically.
Stoneware factory “Manufaktura” in Boleslawiec has been promoting Boleslawiec ceramics in the world for over 20 years. Manual production based on tradition, openness to new decorative elements and cooperation with designers made “Manufaktura” a real trail-blazer and placed it among the leading manufacturers of pottery. In 2014, Manufaktura presented
a special collection designed by Oskar Zieta.
Huta Julia is one of a few remaining crystal glass manufacturers in Poland. The glassworks produces manually molded
and decorated products, which are sold in the country and abroad. Crystal glass produced in Huta Julia is exceptional due to the factory’s traditional manufacturing technique. You can witness the production process by visiting the historic factory located
in the very heart of the Giant Mountains, in Piechowice near Szklarska Poreba. The crystal collection includes both product design inspired by the nineteenth century, and contemporary style.
Porcelana Kristoff from Wałbrzych is one of the leading manufacturers of porcelain in Poland. Continuously for over 180 years Kristoff has been producing high-grade crockery, valued by buyers from Western Europe and North America already in the nineteenth century. Today, the company sells its products to all customers around the world seeking high quality and original design. In recent years, the Porcelana Kristoff has been rapidly expanding production and introducing new collections by young Polish designers: Maria Jeglińska, Anna Kuczyńska, Marek Mielnicki and Magda Pilaczyńska.
