Organizer: National Museum of Etnography in Warsaw, Association ‘Based in Warsaw’
The initiative is a new model of production and distribution of material goods, based on free Creative Commons licenses and the relationship that you establish with a local craftsperson-manufacturer. Such approach to the subject and production is the exploration of “folk” and “tradition” in a way that is not reduced to duplication of folk ornaments or materials. “Release project” is an attempt to show that inspiration from tradition may extend much further than simply deriving directly from ornaments
or materials used for the production.
All stages of old manufacturing and distribution model are worked out in the form of contemporary counterparts.
We use designer – craftsman relationships, the Internet and free Creative Commons licenses. Ultimately, the consumer has
an opportunity to download project documentation from a website and realize it with a local craftsmen.
As part of the “Release project” initiative during the festival there will be workshops on DIY, design and chairs function as well as the board game, which was prepared within the project. We invite both children and adults! The Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography in Lodz has shared its collection with Lodz Design Festival 2015 for the exhibition.
