Rorschach’s Creature – lecture

Author: Aleksander Dynarek

Interactive video projection, which is referring to the famous Rorschach’s test, which relies on looking for specific shapes
and associations (suggested by our subconscious) based on abstract, symmetrical blots. However, the “Rorschach’s creature”,
as the name suggests, is a living being in contrast with dead blots – an interactive program changes and evolves under
the influence of user’s movements. It has designed memory and intelligence. By contacting with the creature, we discover how it feels to be alone with an odd life form that is reacting to us, is watching us, is developing and is never the same, and which we do not know or understand. We rely only on organic, basic feelings and what our imagination tells us. What will the desperate human need of interpretation, patterns and order tell us? Do the abstract patterns of “Rorschach’s creature” represent only
the reflection of ourselves?

Studying architecture at the Technical University of Lodz, he combines with learning painting at the Academy of Fine Arts.
For years, he is interested in a combination of art and technology, he isn’t seeing a contradiction but only a consistent fascination with the creations of the human spirit and imagination. He’s interested in kinetic architecture, interactive art and also works in parallel with Tibetan architecture, the art of primitivism and fights with the sword. He organizes workshops with parametric design and 3D printing at the Technical University of Lodz, he works as one of the creators of Light Move Festival.
